John Feal’s name has become synonymous with resilience, activism, and an unwavering commitment to justice. A 9/11 responder and advocate, Feal transformed his personal experience with tragedy into a lifelong mission to support others. In the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, John Feal was among the many workers who rushed to Ground Zero to assist in rescue and recovery operations. While working at the site, he suffered a life-altering injury when a steel beam fell on his foot, leading to a partial amputation. Named after NYPD officer James Zadroga, who died from health complications linked to 9/11 exposure, the act provides healthcare and compensation to responders and survivors. Feal’s relentless efforts, alongside other advocates, ensured that the voices of 9/11 heroes were heard and their sacrifices honored.

Feal’s advocacy work and his determination to honor the legacy of 9/11 responders have been the focus of various media projects. The documentary No Responders Left Behind (2021), available on streaming platforms like Amazon, sheds light on his tireless fight for justice. Featuring appearances by comedian Jon Stewart, who partnered with Feal in many advocacy efforts, the film captures the emotional and political battles to secure healthcare and benefits for those affected by the 9/11 attacks.

In addition to the documentary, Feal has shared his story through books and interviews. His contributions to Purposeful: Are You a Manager or a Movement Starter? highlight how individuals can turn personal adversity into meaningful action.
